1. What's the difference between a Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage?
Sports Massage usually focuses on one injured area, e.g., leg, lower back. During this session a range of different techniques are used such as deep tissue manual therapy, soft tissue release and Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF).
Deep Tissues massage is usually a generally treatment to work with the deeper layers of muscle tissues throughout the body. Perfect for those with general stiffness or discomfort. Works well for a full body treatment.
2. What is a muscle tension knot?
Muscle knots usually happen because a muscle has been irritated by a repetitive motion but a muscle will also knot up when it’s in an awkward position for too long e.g., sitting hunched over a desk at a laptop. Common areas for knots are the trapezius muscle
3. How often should I get a massage treatment?
This is unique to the person and will vary greatly for people recovering from injury.
For general body maintenance and injury prevention we suggest every 4 weeks.
4. Why am I sore after a training session?
Being sore after a workout if usually an indicator of Delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) This is muscle pain that begins after you’ve worked out. It normally starts a day or two after a workout. You won’t feel DOMS during a workout.
High-intensity exercise can cause tiny, microscopic tears in your muscle fibers. your body responds to this damage by increasing inflammation, which may lead to a delayed onset of soreness in the muscles.
